DESCRIPTION:What is 4-H? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n4-H is an informal\, practical educational program for youth\, where participants complete hands-on projects to teach them technical skills in their project area\, as well as overall life skills including problem-solving\, communication\, goal setting\, and record keeping.​ \n​ \nIt is the nation’s largest youth development organization\, with 6.5 million members nationally\, and over 230\,000 in the State of Florida.​ \n​ \nFlorida 4-H is the youth development program of Florida Cooperative Extension\, a part of the University of Florida IFAS. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n4-H in Manatee County \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are the 4-H Positive Youth Development Program for Manatee County\, housed through the University of Florida IFAS Extension and Manatee County Government. With the support of our local government and state land grant university\, along with volunteers\, we are able to reach youth ages 5-18 across all of Manatee County. Through our 4-H Clubs and outreach programs\, we are able to help teach youth life skills and help prepare them for the workforce in program areas such as S.T.E.A.M.\, Citizenship and Leadership\, and Healthy Living. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat Do the 4 h’s stand for?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n4-H members pledge their:​ \n​ \n\n\nHeads to clearer thinking​ \n\n\nHearts to greater loyalty​ \n\n\nHands to larger service​ \n\n\nHealth to better living​ \n\n\n​ \nFor their club\, their community\, their country\, and their world.
